ABOUT
Sam Cook is a set designer and prop stylist living and working in New York. Growing up in Sydney Australia, she spent her early years in her mother’s ceramic studio building worlds out of clay, specializing in dog figurines.
She graduated from the University of Technology Sydney with a BA Honors in Visual Communications Design. While majoring in photography she landed a job on a film set in the art department. From there her career began and continued for 10 years in the film and commercial industry in Australia as a set decorator, props buyer and art director.
Her love of traveling the world and photography kept bringing her back through New York, where she moved 15 years ago, to work in print–bringing her attention to detail, love of research, sourcing, and “the back story”from the film world to the print world.
Her passion and skill is in concepting from beginning to end, telling a story through the perfect simple prop, or creating all encompassing environments that often evoke comments like “can I please live here”
She currently lives in Brooklyn with her Husband and her Roman-born dog Carlo, and traveling when she can to work on her converted 18th-century goat house in le Marche.
